Application suggestions:
Mix 4-8 drops with 1 Tbsp carrier such as coconut oil, aloe vera leaf extract or hydrogen peroxide. Apply to affected areas. Add 2-3 drops to soap or shampoo while bathing or showering, do not immediately rinse off. Apply 2 times per day. (Do not use this blend without mixing with a carrier)
What is Tinea Versicolor Skin?
Tinea Versicolor is a fungal infection of the skin. It presents first as small spots on the skin, usually lighter than the rest of the skin, though sometimes the spots will appear darker. The color of these spots varies anywhere from tan to white, this is why the term Versicolor is used in the name. Spots can become scaly and itchy. The Tinea Versicolor fungus usually develops on the chest and back, under the breasts, as well as the neck, shoulders, and upper arm areas simply because these areas tend to be oilier than any other part of the body. When the skin is hot and/or sweaty the spots will appear more prominently, which will make it easier to detect the fungus after a tough workout or day in the sun. Tinea Versicolor prevents the skin from tanning due to an acid which is produced by the fungal spots, that shuts down melanin producing cells in the skin under the spotted area. This yeast/fungal infection grows and spreads rapidly especially if left untreated. Thankfully, Tinea Versicolor is NOT contagious. Tanning beds which are improperly cleaned are found to be a major culprit in contracting this skin fungus.
